My sister-in-law Katie recently decided that she wanted to start a side hustle to her architecture career and I was ecstatic when she asked me to help her design her brand and website. I’ve always known that Katie was artistic, but I was in awe when she showed me her true passion – floral paintings! Whether it’s to preserve a bride’s wedding bouquet through art, or recreate the magical blooms of Paris, flowers are definitely her forte!
Y’all, that is one of the best brand descriptions I’ve ever gotten. Also, it made me 10x more excited because if there’s anything this girl loves, it’s J. Crew. So we got to planning and with the help of creating a clear mission, narrowing down her target audience, and getting to scour through old J. Crew magazines, we created a brand and website that will draw people to her classic, color-popping business and help her stand out in her field.
One of the most important (and fun!) components of her website was the brand-specific photography. It truly tied everything together! This was the first time I used my photography background in order to create a website and let me just say – I AM A FAN. Being able to bring a brand to life through photography is one of the greatest accents to a website. I actually went over to Katie’s house and helped her paint the room white the weekend before we took these and it ended up being the perfect backdrop!
